Welcome to you in the journey, how the Reliance's company foundation was laid by Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani.

His full name was Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani and one of the 4th child from Hirachand Gordhanbhai Ambani who was the teacher and Jamnaben who was the housewife and was born on 28th December, 1932 in Chorwad, Junagarh District, Gujarat. During the early life, his family faced money problem, so he decided to sell chai and pakoda (tea & pakoda) to cover the family expenses, he started this business by using his savings, but this business started by him near the religious place, but that business only make profit during the festive seasons, and other months he was not able to make much profit. Then on father's recommendation, when the business was not doing well he started to do job and went to the Yemen at the age of 17. In the Yemen, he worked at the petrol pump and within 2 years he became the manager because he tried to sell more petrol to every person whoever come to that petrol station through this technique and convincing skill, he become the manager.

After becoming to the manager, he had extra time so he decided to do the extra work. Then he started to do clerical work in the Transcontinental Trading firm, where he learnt so many things from book keeping to accounting and much more.

Not only these things forced him to build the biggest company but was his habits, whenever he got payment, he went to the restaurant to drink the tea which costs him Rs.1 instead drinking tea at the price of Rs. 0.25 or 25 paisa, just not because he wanted to waste money or showoff. He went to the restaurant to learn from those people, who came restaurant for different purposes, to know how they eat, how they talk, how they behave, what they talk and much more ettiquettes. One day he got the result and benefit, which he paid every time, because when he was drinking to the tea, he listened to the conversation between 2 person, where they were discussing that Yemen's silver coin value is more than its face value of the coin. It means, if the coin is Rs. 2 and its real value because of silver become Rs. 2.5 or 3. or may be different.

They he got an idea, why he not started to melt these coins and start to sell the silver to others and make profit. He executed this idea and melted Yemen's silver coin to the silver and sell to the businessman and others and make profit. There was the time when Yemen was fighting for their own freedom, which effects to the people who was living there. Then Dhirubhai Ambani came back to India, with money which he made in Yemen. Then in India he started to the spice's business, but in the Yemen their currency Rial was falling down after knowing this they started an investigation and found that there was a boy who coverted his salary's silver coin into silver and sell to others and that boy was Dhirubhai Ambani, but they were unable to capture him, because he left to Yemen.

In India he started the spices and sugar import-export business which with Champklal Damani, who was his cousin brother, they started their business with 350 sqrft. office in Bombay (now Mumbai) and company name was Reliance Commercial Corporation, with 1 telephone, 1 table and 3 chairs and 2 co-workers and mostly sell to Gulf countries and business model was low profit, high volume & high quality which makes their business profitable, but soon they also shift their focus towards the polyester and yarn. But in 1965, they both seperated because their business styles, Dhirubhai Ambani was the risk taking person. During his import-export business he got the best knowledge related to the yarn, polyster and clothes. Then he setup his 1st clothe's factory in Amhedabad in 1966, where they used polyster thread to make clothes and the brand name which he named which was VIMAL, but during the clothing business he faced problems which was related to the selling, that there was less wholesaler who was buying their product and most of the wholesaler was not selling their product because of new entrance and less people know about their brand. Which become the problem because production was running in the factory, stock was increasing and selling was not doing well.

Then, he decided what to do next. To run the business, which makes his different from others at that point of time, so he started to sell his stock directly to the retailer. Through this move, VIMAL brand start to get value in market. He also flew from Bombay to Ahmedabad every weekend only for checking the establishment of the factory and fix problem if any faced by the workers.
From that point of time, the business started to grow day by day, now the most important time comes in his company's life, where he was going to launch the company's IPO, where more than 58,000 people subscribed at that point of time, the reason he went to the villages for the IPO subscription instead going to the cities. Soon his sons Mr. Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani and Mr. Anil Ambani his 2 sons joined to the business and replaced old machines to the new upgraded machines. After that the Reliance company did not look back, they enter into multiple sectors from petrochemical, it, telecommunication, energy, electricity, retail, textile, infrastructure to logistics and much more. After that, the Reliance company never look back after that.

Therefore the long period of hardwork he reached his networth to $2.9 Billions in 2002. Whereas he also got health problems and got heart attack but he recovered from that by changing to the lifestyle & through exercise. But there was a day which was not good neither for the Reliance nor for us, and day was June-24-2002, when he got the heart attack and need to be hospitalized and on July-06-2002, he left to us and left the company's foundation which provide 85,000 workers employement in 2012.
