Amancio Ortega - Who Changed the industry of the fashion.

Have you ever heard about any one of the brands : Zara or Pull & Berar or Bershka or Massimao Dutti or stradivarius any of them. These all brand own by 1 company and the name is Inditex, which own and founded by AMANCIO ORTEGA.


Today we, are going to know how he build this brand and make company profitable in the business's corporate world, you will also know about his life story and other facts regarding to the company. Which force us to know how and through which strategy, these brands become popular among the latest design, style lover people around the world.

His full name is Amancio Ortega Gaona and was born on March 28th, 1936, in the village of Spain, where he lived with his parents and siblings, his father worked at local railway station and his mother was housewife. They were not rich at that time, sometime his mother lend to the goods from the shopkeeper for the food, but one day she got rejected and criticized by the shopkeeper and he was also there and show that whole incident,and also they did not eat nothing in that night which effect his soul, heart and mentality fully and decided to support the family. Due to the poverty he left his study at the age of 14 and started to work as delievery person in GALA company, who work as the shirt maker. Later he learned to use the sweing machine and work on that, slowly-slowly he learned other works of the shirt making and become senior manager.

He was the creative person from the early stage of life, during the learning stage, he make baby wear and night gown from waste clothes and sell to the locals and this idea turn his life from normal life to business life.

During the selling to the clothes and work as senior manager, he got married with Rosalia in 1966.

After selling these clothes and its success, he got high demand which force him to start company in 1972 with his brother Antonio Ortega and sister Josepah Ortega, but they were got trouble to sell, so they decided to hire salesperson. After hiring to the saleswoman named Rosalia, who later become his wife in future. For the expansion of the company he took 2000 Pesetas loan from the Bank of Bilbao and start to sell gown and also do the work for others as a contractor. After starting his first company and work day and night to start his FIRST own retail store in 1975, and they selected the name which was Zirba, his and his wife's favourite movie, but after they changed their name and replaced with the ZARA.

After opening his first retail store, the company make good sales and within 8 years, the showroom chain fully covered to the Spain. But he was the creative person from the learning stage, so he decided to take the brand as at International level. In 1988, he opened his first international showroom in Portugal and then in London.

After the International expansion, the ZARA become the biggest fashion brand in the world. So, after the company become international fashion brand in premium segment, so the company changed its strategy.

There is also fun fact regarding to the fashion lover of the clothes, whoever either go or buy once from ZARA and buy oftenly or continously that person averagely go the ZARA showroom 17 times a year.

After making brand popular at the international level, but the biggest expansion for ZARA, was the ASIA, to make it more bigger and valuable.

After building to the fashion industry he avoid to face the media and mostly stay out from the lights of the trends.
